Melanie Carter and Alistair Williams of Bates Wells Braithwaite will provide an introduction to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the practical steps that trade associations should consider taking before it enters into force on 25 May 2018.

This seminar will focus on the changes to the existing data protection regime, and cover topics including:
• Conditions for processing personal data (including consent)
• Accountability and governance
• Data processors
• The rights of data subjects
• Data breaches
• Enforcement action

Melanie Carter is head of BWB’s Public & Regulatory department, and specialises in information rights (including data protection) as well as public law. Alistair Williams is a solicitor in the Public & Regulatory, who works with Melanie in advising a wide range of organisations on data protection, including helping prepare for the GDPR.
