UKAS Contribution to BEIS Regulatory Book
UKAS recently contributed to a book produced by the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). The book focusses on regulatory delivery based upon the six elements of the Regulatory Delivery Model i.e. accountability, governance, culture, risk, intervention choices, and outcomes.[1] Chapter 23 , Standards Based Regulation, the Role of Standards and Accreditation in Regulator delivery addresses the ‘intervention choices’ element of the RDM. It was co-authored by UKAS, BSI and OPSS and sets out how standards and accreditation can be used by regulatory agencies as aspects of intervention choices and regulatory alternatives that support consumer protection and enable businesses to innovate and thrive. Included in the chapter are a number of case studies where UKAS is working with Government to support regulatory policy.
The final publication is due to be published in October and is available for pre-order from the Bloomsbury Publishing website.
