The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has launched a campaign for scientific experts to join its new Register of Specialists. These experts will work with OPSS to help ensure the safety of non-food consumer products, providing independent expert assessment of risks and supporting the development of evidence.

The Register allows OPSS to commission ad hoc pieces of work from a pool of pre-approved experts quickly and efficiently, enabling the rapid development and delivery of evidence.

The campaign calls for experts from a wide range of fields relevant to the safety assessment of cosmetics, toys and textiles including toxicologists, chemists, dermatologists, microbiologists and more. If you are an expert in any of these areas and would like to give advice to OPSS and the Government on non-food consumer product safety, then they would like to hear from you.

The closing date for the receipt of completed applications is 17:00 on Thursday 29th October 2020.

To find out more about the campaign, please visit the OPSS recruitment page. For more general information on OPSS, please visit the website.
