The British Coatings Federation (BCF) represents the interests of 95% of the UK’s paints, coatings, printing inks and wallcoverings manufacturers. The coatings industry is one of those key, unsung but most visible of industries. The coatings industry has a direct impact on over £180bn of the economy and its supply chain, as well as supporting the livelihoods of more than 300,000 British jobs. In fact, without the coatings ndustry much of the automotive, aerospace, construction and many more industries would come to a halt.
The overall brief for the role is to persuade decision-makers, opinion-formers and policy-makers to act in the best interests of the coatings industry. Target audiences would be any organisations that make decisions, take actions, or formulate policies that could help or harm the coatings industry. The principal audiences are: parliamentarians; government officials and agencies; regional and local government agencies; trade unions, standard-setting bodies; suppliers and their organisations; customers and their organisations; trade press; other trade associations; Construction Products Association, All Party Manufacturing Group, CBI, Make UK, European commission international bodies representing the sector (CEPE, World Coatings Council).
The job holder must be available for frequent travel to London for meetings and Coventry to the BCF office. There may also be occasional requirement to travel to Europe to represent the BCF member interests.
