The Business Centre Association (BCA) is the trade association for the flexible workspace industry.  We represent and support the providers of serviced and managed offices, co-working space, workshops and virtual office services.

Our Membership Development Executive will be responsible for identifying new opportunities to grow the BCA’s membership as well as working to ensure existing members have the support and services they need to ensure they remain members.

You will have the drive and confidence to make contact with prospective members, and persuade them of the benefits of joining the BCA.  This may be in writing, on the phone or in person, but it will call for strong and engaging communication skills.

You will work with colleagues to organise events for existing and potential members, including our Annual Conference, the Gala Awards Dinner, and take the lead in the organisation of roundtable meetings around the UK.

As a small organisation, you will be required to pitch in to help with other areas of work, and cover in the absence of colleagues.  This makes for a more varied role, which will develop your skills across a variety of activities.

The post calls for a dynamic, proactive and ambitious individual, with good verbal and written communication skills.  Proficiencies will include:

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with members and partner organisations
  • Strong IT skills, using Microsoft suite of packages including Dynamics 365 CRM
  • Good organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to research the market and identify potential opportunities
  • Ability to assist with the organisation of member events
  • Able to work on own initiative, but also as part of a team

Standard working hours are Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:30.  We are open to discussions on flexible working arrangements.  There will be a need for some travel, and to attend events outside of normal working hours.

Location: Hertfordshire.  The post will initially be based in Borehamwood, but will move to Hatfield in the Summer.

Application Details: To apply for this position, please submit your CV and a letter of application setting out how you meet the requirements of the role to the Executive Director of the BCA, Jane Sartin.

Closing Date for Applications: Friday, 12th April 2019.
