Chief Administrator – Association of Noise Consultants (ANC)
The Association of Noise Consultants represents acoustics consultancy practices across the United Kingdom and Europe. We have strong links to Government departments and are consulted on draft legislation, standards, guidelines and codes of practice.
We are recruiting a Chief Administrator, responsible to the ANC Chairman and the Board, who will provide full-time support in all aspects of the ANC’s activities.

Principal Responsibilities

  • providing a secretariat service to the ANC, including organisation and minute taking at all Board, Company, and Committee meetings

  • administration of the ANC Registration Scheme, including processing of all applications, audits and witness tests, liaison with companies and examiners, maintenance of records

  • acting as the first point of contact for members, clients, press and non-members wishing to contact the ANC

  • processing all membership applications, maintaining the membership records and issuing communications to members as required

  • maintaining financial records, including processing of all payments and receipts, production of management accounts and liaison with the auditors

  • ensuring that members receive regular, high quality information and advice on best practice, changing regulations, and other issues through production of newsletters, leaflets and maintaining the ANC website

  • working with the Board to produce a Business Plan and ensure this is reviewed and updated at regular intervals

  • liaising with other industry bodies including professional institutions, trade associations and appropriate representative groups

  • acting as a contact point for government and client groups which the ANC may wish to influence

  • providing guidance and support to the Board in the efficient running of the ANC, such as good practice advice, ensuring conformity to the rules & bylaws

  • developing member services, including those which may raise additional income

  • organising Conferences or seminars as instructed by the Board

  • developing a programme for improving member participation, through regular contact with all members

  • managing all aspects of a small company and ensuring compliance with all statutory responsibilities

  • performing any additional or other functions that the Board considers necessary to meet the needs of the ANC.

    Personal Attributes

    The successful applicant will:

  • be flexible and self-motivated

  • be willing to undertake all tasks required to fulfil the role, from very minor to complex

  • have excellent communication and people management skills

  • li>have good IT skills
  • be willing to work outside normal office hours as reasonably required

  • have knowledge and experience of membership organisations

  • be able to provide references
  • Location

    Although you will be employed directly by the ANC, you will be required to provide your own office and associated facilities such that you can undertake all the required duties.

    The existing secretariat services are currently based in St Albans. However, provided all duties can be performed satisfactorily the successful candidate may be based anywhere in the United Kingdom.

    Salary will be dependent on skills and experience.
