Head of Financial Services Sector Programmes

We are now recruiting a Head of Financial Services Sector Programmes to reflect the increasing importance of our work in the financial services arena. This is a new role, reporting to the Director General, and its main purpose is to lead our work in that area and manage member and stakeholder relationships.

The person appointed will build on a strong foundation of a solid programme, strong member engagement, and good external reputation and stakeholder relationships. The goal is to enhance the programme to deliver more value to existing and new members. He/she will need to have, or a propensity to develop quickly, a good understanding of the opportunities and challenges in the use of ICT and related technologies in the financial services sector, and where members can work collectively to understand and enhance those opportunities. This role requires someone who has the communication skills, confidence and drive to grow their own profile and that of Intellect.

Duties

  • Lead the development, implementation and communication of a programme of work that meets the needs of existing and potential members;

  • Be a recognised public spokesperson and domain expert on financial services;

  • Communicate in writing and verbally on issues, topics and arguments using whichever communication channels are necessary to represent most effectively our members’ views;

  • Lobby and achieve results on member policy issues;

  • Retain and account-manage the members engaged in the financial services sector programmes;

  • Assist in the recruitment of new members by articulating, explaining and selling the benefits of membership;

  • Develop and maintain relevant relationships within the stakeholder communities;

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities such as events and projects;

  • Manage, develop and lead a team;

  • Be part of Intellect’s leadership team;

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of Intellect’s strategic direction, structure and shape;

  • Any other duties that might from time to time be required by Intellect’s senior management.
  • Skills and Capabilities

  • Have a good understanding of the economic, social and political environment and be able to develop and maintain an understanding of members’ business performance, business models, stakeholders and their drivers;

  • A confident communicator with experience of using different communications tools and channels such as web, press, public affairs etc;

  • Experience of public speaking and/or a can-do approach to speaking to audiences of all sizes;

  • Comfortable with detailed policy issues and the ability to synthesise positions from members’ views and other input; the ability to win and keep members’ support for such positions;

  • Experienced user of IT and the ability to use the tools and technologies Intellect provides; including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Saleslogix, mobile and home working software as appropriate, and web tools;

  • Commercial awareness and acumen that enables the making of business decisions based on sound commercial and business principles;

  • An excellent relationship builder, networker and account manager;

  • The ability to manage a team, lead, persuade and inspire others.
  • Salary will be dependent on experience.
